wow
This is a blog created for Alexis Hakalmazian. On June 28, 2006 she was diagnosed with leukemia (AML). She endured 4 rounds of chemotherapy at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX before heading home in mid-November. She is truly an encouragement to all of us.

Here is the article from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/news/local/states/texas/northeast/15909993.htm
"NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin is given a helmet by Brock Hakalmazian, 12, of Keller on Wednesday in Grapevine. Brock's sister Alexis, 15, a leukemia patient at Cook Children's Medical Center, came up with the winning helmet design in a contest but was too ill to attend the event. Hamlin will wear the helmet this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. It will then be given to Alexis. The helmet's theme is "Healing hands coming together to find a cure." FedEx, Hamlin's sponsor, donated $25,000 to the hospital."
"The opportunity to wear helmets designed by patients like Alexis means a lot to me and I know this whole team takes a lot of pride in racing out there for them," said Hamlin. "A lot of these kids can't make it to a race, so we try to give them the next best thing and represent them at the track. Hopefully they feel like part of our team. Plus, these helmets always seem to bring me luck in races, so I owe them a big thank you."
Alexis continues to battle her infection at the hospital, but her blood counts have been slowly improving each day. She still needs your daily prayers, as she battles this infection and all of the side effects of her medications.
I thought you might enjoy some of the photos below which were taken over the last couple of weeks. If you have some photos you can send me, please email them to jhakalmazian@kronos.com
Enjoy these photos& please continue to pray for Alexis

After completing her 2nd round of chemo today (Friday, August 4th), Alexis will be leaving the hospital in the afternoon to spend some time at home. She is doing so well; the doctors have released her until her next round of chemo. This means she could be home (sleeping in her own bed!) for almost 20 days, unless she comes down with a fever.
