What a Glorious New Year It Will Be!

This is a blog created for Alexis Hakalmazian. On June 28, 2006 she was diagnosed with leukemia (AML). She endured 4 rounds of chemotherapy at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX before heading home in mid-November. She is truly an encouragement to all of us.

    hi, my name is Sam West, im am currently staying here in 3 south for a few days for chemo, i to have been diagnosed with leukimia cancer. i just want to say that i know how it feels and that ure not the only one. if u ever want someone to talk to about it, i am more than willing to. for i have gone through it myself. and remember god is with you and he never gives you more than you can handle. remember this, its goin to get worse before it gets better, but i promise it will get better. never think negative for god is with you and will never leave, keep a smile on your face for there is nothing to worry about. i garantee u that in just a few months u will be feeling like your old self. i am praying for you and your family.

    Good to see a smile on your face dear! Keep it up...you will need that positive outlook ahead of you. I prayed for you today and will pray for you everyday till you beat this thing. Just last month I did an American Cancer Society Relay for Life. It was amazing to walk for such a cause. If you get a chance to see it, look on my blog and scroll down a bit until you see all the happy faces. That's our camp site...we were Family of H.O.P.E (Helping Other People Everywhere). My friend Rachel started this team 3 years ago and this was my first to participate. But I will do it every year hoping to help people just like you!
    Hang in there-you can do this!

    Keep that smile on your face! Positive attitude and fierce determination are super friends to you right now. We have a lot of cancers in our family and we think it is our love of life and our faith in God that has helped us through. We will pray for you and your family.

    Hi, Alexis!

    My name is Chris Burdick (Sternagle). My parents (Bob and Kathy) and your grandparents (Rich and Judy) have been very good friends for a VERY long time. In fact, your grandfather and my dad share the same birthday (July 17th). My dad passed away 4 years ago due to complications of his diabetes. YOUR dad was one of MY dad's favorite people in the world. He talked about him all the time (in some ways I felt like he was part of our family!). Please ask him about him some day. I'm sure your grandfather has a few stories to tell, too!!

    My mom just told me about your diagnosis and I had to send you my prayers and thoughts. I know you don't remember this, but you attended my wedding reception in Chicago 15 years ago in September. I still remember your BEAUTIFUL smile....and from the pictures on this blog, I see you haven't lost it.

    My family...Hubby-Tim, Daughter-Alyssa (9) and Son-Ryan (7)....and I are praying for you and your family every day. You are a strong young lady and you have a FABULOUS and supportive family. With that and God's love, you will succeed.

    lex!! well what do you know..we made progress getting you outta bed today! too bad that video didn't work! anyways i miss you so much and i know you will get through this! just remember to smile and that i am always here for you no matter what! your one of my very best friends and never EVER forget that! just remember that the man upstairs will never steer you wrong and if at night you think that he is not with you...just look at the glow in the dark rosary!! he's always there! with that said...i hope you get better realy SOON! but most of all I LOVE YOU!

    Hi Alexis!

    My name is Kathy Sternagle. I have known your grandparents (Judy & Rich) for about 40 years. I was through the births of their children and grandchildren, and that included...you. Although I haven't seen you in person for awhile, I have been following your life through your grandmother's pictures and her Christmas letters.

    My husband, Bob, thought the world of your dad. Bob was a huge Chicago Bears fan as is your dad. They would often talk on the phone to discuss players and plays. Bob even sent your dad the infamous Mike Dikta picture. He was as proud of your dad as your are.

    Alexis, you have grown into a beautiful young women. God protects his own. He will carry you through this everyday. We are all praying for a complete recovery and a return to one of your loves...volleyball. Much love to your family.
