This is a blog created for Alexis Hakalmazian. On June 28, 2006 she was diagnosed with leukemia (AML). She endured 4 rounds of chemotherapy at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX before heading home in mid-November. She is truly an encouragement to all of us.

back home again


well i have wonderful news. the doctor said that i could come home until thursday. they were planning to my bone marrow pull and my spinal tap on monday but my counts werent high enough so they decided instead of waiting around at the hospital i could go home and relax. so on thursday i will go to the clinic and get my spinal tap and bone marrow pull and i will start my third round of chemo. this round is only 5 days so next monday i will be back at home recovering. also just a little news for everyone who hasnt seen me lately..... last wednesday i shaved my head so i am offically bald. My dad thought that i looked so good with no hair he thought he would try it so he also shaved his head. he looks very hadsome but not as good as me!! lol jk! i also wanted to thank mike snyder from nbc 5 news and chad hennings (former Dallas Cowboy) for coming to visit me while i was in the hospital. i really appreciate everything that everyone has done for me! god bless

    Hey -- no wonder they could not find you today. I was going to come by to say hello !!! I was at Cook's picking up a copy of Caleb's MRI to the surgeon we see tomorrow (you can read his website in your spare time to see what's been going on lately - www.caringbridge.org/tx/calebdavis ). When they told me you were not there I was excited that you were at home, hoping it was for a good reason. We think about you, pray for you and check on you often. Keep hang in there and take one day at a time.

    Dear Greatest Great-Niece Hakalmonster!
    How cool about your new hair cut! and Dad being jealous, thought maybe he could look as good as you! What was he thinking?!?
    Believe it or not, I got my head buzzed once! For some very strange reason, that I am not exactly aware of, I thought this hairstyle would look good on me! Wrong! I looked like a "Concentration Camp" victim from World War II! And no matter how much make-up, etc. or whatever I put on ,it didn't look any better. But it sure was a "liberating do"!
    How cool to take a shower, dry your head like the rest of you (guy style, lucky ducks)and you're done! No muss no fuss! I have always had my hair really short, but you! wow! you must really feel light and airy ( like you might fly away) without your head of hair! Well, enjoy the new freedom, cause someday soon it will all be back! Glad to hear you are home for a couple of days!

    Hey..well you were right about mr. footballer over there! haha..it was GREAT coming to see you the other day and i can't wait til your out again and get to go into public!! i'm so excited! the volleyball team always thinks of you and every now and then we break out into a MONSTER..MONSTER..chant..its really sweet!!i miss you!!
